Functional sculpture for the everyday
About
Hi there, I’m DooRi.
I live upstate with my family, a cat named Draco, and a small flock of chickens. I never imagined I would leave the city, but moving closer to nature has profoundly changed me—both as a person and as a creator. The slower rhythm, the seasons, and the daily rituals of care have deeply shaped the way I work.
I came to ceramics after many years in fashion, where I designed clothing with a deep respect for structure, drape, and how material moves with the body. Clay introduced a different pace—quieter, slower, and rooted in touch. It asked me to listen more and control less.
Today, my work brings those two worlds together. I throw and hand-build ceramic vessels and sculptural planters that explore texture, construction, and the balance between softness and strength. These are functional objects made to live with, pieces that bring beauty into the everyday.
During the week, I teach fashion and encourage thoughtful, hands-on making across disciplines. Whether functional or sculptural, my goal is simple: to create work that feels considered, tactile, and meant to be used.
Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade work.
